Overseas before Navy / Coast Guard …?

I have 18 years and just graduated from high school. I have planned to join the Navy, but I will Ecuador abroad for a week 6.5 Volunteers in advance. A recruiter told me that if I do, then I will be automatically and permanently disqualified for any kind of secret "top" positions such as intelligence or to be a Navy Seal. I do not want to jump to four years of my life in the military and I can not find do something I decide I want to do. It sounds ridiculous, I imagine that would actually traveled people who have experienced other cultures to understand them better. That's what I said completely true?? Is the Coast Guard in the same way?? This plays an important role in the course of my life … Thank you.
