Occasionally, a television program that reaches itself actually improves after a shaky first season. "" In the first season of Seinfeld was a show full of awkward and stilted acting from the now famous group of actors on its maiden voyage, on NBC, and now you can add the CBS action-packed, "The Unit "to that category. Most critics agree that David Mamet, the creator of the program, is one of the best living writers working in film and on Broadway today. His famous screenplays include "The Untouchables" and "Glengary Glen Ross," so you know the guy is a true genius of the written word, and when it comes to dialogue, which has no equal.

However, during the "first season of the Unit, Mamet could not get a handle on showing the brutality battlefield while reducing the military base where the family unit are common problems that seemed very tame in comparison. During the first season of the show, the family stories army base threatened to turn the series into a soap opera at every step. Mamet did not want the brutal pure action at all episodes, so he went too far in the other direction and got too involved with the family life of the unit over the years. Instead of bringing to television viewers in the heat of battle, they went back and forth sniping between the unit is used against military forces in Iraq, and wives back home who were shown having problems with their children misbehave in school. Not a good way to keep the momentum flowing in a television audience at all. Fortunately, Mamet and company have learned the lesson.

During Season 2 of "The Unit" has been shown that the real strength of what must be like being with a team of soldiers and Navy Seals or Green Beret. The constant machine gun fire are surrounded by men during an attack on an Arab military base is just one example the incredibly intense situations that this unit is constantly involved. The possibility that men might get blown up by a missile attack or a terrorist suicide during a routine inspection of a U.S. outpost in the desert of Saudi Arabia, also points out the danger incredible that these men live with daily.

Jonas Blane (Dennis Haysbert) is the leader of a squad of this tight-knit special division of the Army, and will with his men of all possible obstacles, at the risk of his own career. During this season filled with tension, his team has been accused of smuggling diamonds during a mission in the Far East. His accusers work for the CIA, so they have a great influence when it comes to believing in them Blane protest of innocence. Blane risk of a court martial if not fully cooperating with the investigation of the CIA in his squad. Blane then told the CIA where he could stick his research, finishing the season with a large question mark as to what will happen in the third season. At the end of the final episode, we see Blane goes to another country without permission to hide and find that really behind these allegedly false accusations.

The great magician and writer, Ricky Jay, actually met with his friend David Mamet, and suggested it should write a few hours of end of season episodes. Mamet made the right decision to allow this to happen, as Ricky Jay came up with the story of CIA infiltration unity and accusing them of smuggling diamonds. original screenplay by Jay helped develop these two episodes in which the highlights of the season.

Ricky Jay himself portrays a shadow undercover CIA agent trying to get one of the best actors of the unit, Bob Brown (Scott Foley), giving the impression that Bob is in your best interest to come to work for the CIA, as soon as possible. He will do anything it takes to get to Bob defect of the unit, to the murder of a informant if he has a. Jay is always adept at playing a sinister, and always plays the villain with unbridled pleasure. Ricky Jay Bob character is always getting to do things reprehensible for anyone suspects that Jay is a covert CIA agent. Since Bob is always the model of good behavior, which is even more interesting to shoot a suspected terrorist unarmed in the back, as he did in one of the later episodes in season 2 to protect the identity of Jay's enemy.

The powerful address all action sequences brought the series a more realistic viewing experience. The attempt to bring more elements of the story intriguing as marital infidelity between spouses and wives who participate in the unit also has managed to keep the audience glued to their seats. All this helped make real progress along this season to a conclusion very strong. If David Mamet continues to bring in his literary friends to help build more depth to the stories, "The Unit" is in a very position strength to continue their domination over the rest of the competition every Tuesday night.
